Kochi to Munnar

How To Reach Munnar By Air

Munnar doesn’t have its own Airport. However, the nearest airport from this beautiful hill station is Kochi at a distance of 110 km.

Nearest Airport – Kochi International Airport (COK), 110 KM from Munnar.

i) Going to Munnar via Kochi airport is very convenient. In addition, it is time saving option.
ii) Kochi airport to Munnar route is very beautiful. Moreover, there are multiple sightseeing spots on this route.
Cons
i) During season time, ticket prices to Kochi are on the higher side. Therefore, try to book the tickets as early as possible.
ii) However, during bad weather condition, frequent cancellations happen. Therefore, if you plan to visit during monsoon, keep an alternate plan ready.

How To Reach Munnar By Train

Munnar doesn’t have its own station. However, nearest railway station is Aluva at a distance of 110 km.
Pros: Nearest to Munnar. Can reach Munnar in 2.5 to 3 hrs of drive.
Cons: However, Aluva has very limited connectivity with other major railway stations.

Popular Options: Most of the people coming to Munnar by train reaches Ernakulam Junction in Kochi (130 km). Subsequently they take a car or bus to reach Munnar. Similarly, tourists can reach Munnar via Madurai located at a distance of 140 km. Importantly, both Ernakulam and Madurai have good rail connectivity with major cities of India. Further, Munnar can be reached from these places in 5 to 6 hrs by car.

How To Reach Munnar By Bus

Good connectivity and regular bus services with Kochi, Madurai, Coimbatore, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kodaikanal helps the tourists who are on a budget and like to travel via bus. In addition, there are direct buses coming also from Ernakulam and Bangalore  covering the distance in 10 to 11 hrs.

AC and Non-AC buses including Volvo service is operated by both government and private agencies are available.
Pros – Less travel cost and overnight journey from the above listed places. As a result, you get the entire day of arrival for sightseeing or leisure.
Cons – Long journey on mountain roads are tiring. In addition, you lose the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape compared to rented cab or own car

How To Reach Munnar By Car

Munnar has very good road connectivity with Kochi, Madurai, Alleppey and other places of Kerala. In addition, when you travel via car, you can enjoy the beautiful landscape to its fullest.
